HR Sheets: Cut-to-Length Processing of Hot Rolled Steel

How thick HR coils are decoiled, flattened and sheared into the heavy plates used in base plates, fabrication and trailer bodies.

Hot Rolled Sheets (HR Sheets)

Hot Rolled Sheets are produced by processing HR coils through heavy-duty cut-to-length lines designed for thicknesses up to 25 mm — far heavier than typical CR or GI sheet lines.

1. Heavy Decoiler & Pinch

A high-capacity decoiler handles coils up to 25 MT. Hydraulic pinch and threading rolls feed the strip through a thickness-appropriate straightener.

2. Heavy Roller Leveller

Large-diameter levelling rolls (often back-up roll levellers for thick gauge) reverse-bend the strip multiple times to break the coil set and deliver true flatness — vital for downstream laser cutting and welding.

3. Hydraulic Shear

A heavy hydraulic guillotine shear cuts to length up to 12 m. Cut sheets are stacked on motorised tables for forklift removal and bundling.

4. Surface Options

Sheets can be supplied as-rolled (with mill scale), pickled & oiled, or shot-blasted and primed, depending on downstream fabrication requirements.
